What is Sweeping Herbal Medicine Treatment?

Herbal Medicine Treatment applied by hand into the mouth, is one of the Thai unique methods for treating children's symptoms because Thai medicines do not taste good, which makes it difficult for children to take. Young children and some adults cannot take medicine on their own, so it is necessary to introduce medicine into the mouth using fingers covered with the medication.

What symptoms can be treated with this Herbal Medicine Treatment?

There are several symptoms that can be treated by this treatment for both young and old, such as respiratory problems, Gastrointestinal and/or Skin disorders. The initial symptoms are associated with abnormalities such as bloating, flatulence, diarrhea, constipation, cloudy tongue, sores in the mouth, itchy rashes, colds, coughing, and phlegm.

What are the herbal medicine recipes used and what symptoms can they treated?

Many home remedies available at drug stores and has properties according to frequent symptoms such as

1.YA LUENG PID SMOTH : Used for diarrhea.

2.YA UM-MA-RU-KHA-VA-DHI : Used for coughing and/or phlegm.

3.YA THREE-HOM : Used for fever and/or constipation.

4. YA MAHA NIL THANG THONG : Used for mouth ulcers and/or fever.

5.YA SANG MEAK : Used for White Tongue

6.YA PRA SA GRA POA : Used for air allergies and excess mucus

The important thing in using Thai herbal medicines in this way is to use water to dissolve the medicine or " Aqueous adjuvant " and match the symptoms to the correct treatment as much as possible. The principle of using aqueous adjuvant is as follows.

- Lemon juice with Salt is aqueous adjuvant for coughs and/or Phlegm

- Rose juice is aqueous adjuvant for fevers

- Nutgall juice is aqueous adjuvant for sore tongues and/or mouth

If there is no aqueous adjuvant mentioned above, use boiled water as a substitute.

Where is this Herbal Medicine placed in the mouth?

Usually the base of the tongue or areas where symptoms appear. The doctor can apply the medicine using their fingertips.

Precautions for Treating with Herbal Medicine.

For Children or adult

1.Abstain from eating or drinking anything for 20-30 minutes before being treated, to prevent vomiting.

2.Lie on your back and hold both hands firmly against your body.

3.The head needs to be raised to 45-degree angle during the application of the medicine. If vomiting occurs, gently raise the head to stop choking.

4.Do not eat or drink for 5minutes after treatment to allow the medicine to work.

Remark : This treatment is applied 1time per day in the evening, or if the symptoms are not severe, every other day.
